Carrinell Fund

Welcome to the Carrinell Fund. Many would ask who is Carrinell?  Dominique Carrinell M. Crenshaw a.k.a Nek Nek was an aspiring Graphic Designer and Artist who lived in Paterson New Jersey.  She was known for her big heart and her adventurous imagination. Unfortunately, she passed away after a long-misdiagnosed battle with breast cancer at the age of 32 years old. 

Chef C and Green Acres Community Garden’s (Deacon Davis) Form this one-time ($1,000) scholarship fund with a mission to give people who come from communities just like the one Dominique was born and raised in a chance to follow their dreams.  

  • Candidates must submit a 500-word essay to ([email protected]) explaining what reparations means to you and how you plan to apply the education you now have, back into the communities you come from.
  • Candidates must have selected an Accredited College/Trade School of your choice and must attach a scanned copy of your acceptance letter with your essay.
  • Candidates must have a 2.75 GPA.
  • Candidates must be willing to interview/meet with the scholarship host via Zoom or Google-meet.
  • The awarded candidate must be willing to attend an In-person or Virtual Awards Ceremony of the Scholarship Host choice. 

Current college/trade school students are allowed to apply for this scholarship as long as you can provide proof of current and future attendance ex/ report card 2.75 GPA minimum and your semester schedule.  Candidates selected to move forward to the interview/meet stage will be contacted directly follow up emails are not necessary. Candidates who were not contacted after submitting their essay will have the opportunity to reapply next year. This is an independent fund all winners will be awarded personally/directly.
